Käsmu - a delightful captains' village!

Becoming a captain was the dream job of the coastal crowd for generations, but there is no other place besides Käsmu that can boast a total of 64 captains! What made it possible for this small fishing village to have such success in seafaring? On this tour we won’t stick to just maritime history, but explore Käsmu’s other facets through the memories of locals. What were the relationships between locals and border guards during the Soviet era? How did a closed border zone settlement manage to become a summertime holiday destination for the Soviet elites? Every success story must have some setbacks - does Käsmu have a dark side too? See you in Käsmu - the village with breathtaking nature, diverse history and inspiring people!
