Peetri - the suburb of dreams or a developers' mess?
People often wonder how Nikolai von Glehn could have founded Nõmme in an empty spot - why aren't there men with such great visions anymore? Or maybe there are; it's almost as if we've failed to notice that in the last twenty years, a town has essentially risen from empty fields next to Tallinn: Peetri! On this tour, we'll travel through Peetri's history with help from of old maps, the memories of long-time residents and the first new settlers, and most excitingly - interviews with the developers. We'll find out where the original farms were located and what happened to them during the land reform. What were the first new developments and the visions of their leaders? By the way, do you know who could be considered the Nikolai von Glehn or the founder of Peetri? Find out on the tour! While new developments may all seem the same, Peetri actually has very different areas side-by-side, which allows us to discuss whether what they've created is the coolest new settlement in Harjumaa or a failed mess - opinions are all over the place. This is a real treat for urban planning enthusiasts as well as all current residents of Peetri and Järveküla!
